Jessica Chastain Fights for the Equal Pay in Hollywood
In the recent years, after starring in such successful movies as “The Martian”, “Interstellar” and “The Huntsman: Winter’s War”, Jessica Chastain became one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood. That’s why, she may afford to fight for the equal pay. Following the example of Jennifer Lawrence, who supported the equality in Hollywood, Chastain also demands the equal pay with her male colleagues.
She says: “I’m not taking jobs anymore where I’m getting paid a quarter of what the male co-star is being paid. I’m not allowing that in my life”.
The actress tells that the principles are more important for her than participation in large-scale projects. Thus, she admits that she has refused a role in an ambitious film with a big budget:”There was something huge that I recently turned down. For me, it wasn’t about the money; it was an old-fashioned problem of the wage gap. I turned it down, and they didn’t come back”.
